An easy terrestrial orchid commonly known as the Chinese Ground Orchid or Urn Orchid. The bulbs sit at ground level and send up 4 to 8 bright green and deeply ribbed leaves that look a little like palm fronds. The flowers are in shades of purple to lavender and appear along arching stems in early spring, opening sequentially. These have a very classical orchid shape, something like a Cattleya, and can number up to 10 or more per stalk.
