Fritillaria carica

One of the most charming of the Mediterranean fritillaries producing up to 3 exquisite little yellow bells on medium stems over neat grey-green leaves in late winter. These can be varyingly infused with garnet-red or lime and with the outer petals slightly reflexing. Those on offer are from the Greek island of Samos where it grows among limestone boulders on the top slopes of Mt Ambelos.
